States of Grace
US photographer Wendi Schneider shares with us the states of grace within nature.
Informed by a background in painting and art history, Schneider illuminates images of flora, fauna and figura, inspired by the grace of organic forms. She captures the ephemeral movement of light to preserve a mystical moment that stills time.
Schneider often layers the images digitally with color and texture, then by hand with precious metals to balance the real and the imagined and to highlight the innate spirituality of the treasured subjects.
We find her work very elegant as still figures that we all know from nature are portrayed in a still-life. The light technique she used makes you imagine the movement that the fish, for instance, is going to make after your look is turned away.
