Self-taught photographer Aleksandr Smirnov from Ukraine specializes in landscape photography mostly showing seascapes.
During walks near the sea, he sees the various objects that form the visual minimalistic images, abstracted from the reality of everyday life. Spending time in desolate places, away from urban civilization and where you can be alone with nature is something important for him. This world, minimalistic and desolate, he tries to convey in his photos.
„The composition is built so that in the frame there were only necessary elements and nothing superfluous that can prevent the viewer to perceive the visual image.” Aleksandr Smirnov
This sense of calmness washes over you when looking at this work. He takes you to a serene environment where you can enjoy the beach on your own. Almost as if you are visiting at an early hour and the sand is still perfectly shaped by the wind and no daily human intervention is visible (yet).
